The California Highway Patrol has identified the passenger who tragically lost her life in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. Elizabeth J. Hernandez, a 43-year-old resident of Santa Maria, was found deceased at the scene of the crash on Creston Road, located west of Neal Springs Road, at approximately 12:29 a.m.

Details of the Incident

According to the CHP, Hernandez, along with two other passengers, was ejected from a vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed when it suddenly veered off the road for reasons unknown. The car overturned multiple times, resulting in the tragic loss of Hernandez’s life. It was reported that none of the passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Survivors and Arrest

The two other passengers, Carlos S. Torres Diaz (41) and Aliandro Torres Gomez (47), both residents of Paso Robles, sustained major injuries and were rushed to Sierra Vista Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Angel Melquiades Ramos from Paso Robles, fled the scene immediately following the crash.

Ramos was apprehended and taken into custody on the same day at 11:25 a.m. He is facing charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. The CHP is currently investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragic incident.
