Loss of EMT Drake Adams
The first responder community was devastated by the sudden passing of EMT Drake Adams. Reports indicate that Adams, a beloved member of the Carter County EMS, succumbed to natural causes early on Tuesday. He was known for his unwavering dedication to serving others, having previously worked as an EMT in Carter County and as a firefighter in Sandy Hook and Winchester. Adams was also a former corrections officer at the Sandy Hook Correctional Facility.

Firefighter Frank Whitt’s Tragic Accident
Shortly after the loss of EMT Adams, tragedy struck again as firefighter Frank Whitt from the 504 Fire Department lost his life in a heartbreaking accident. Whitt was en route to escort Adams to a funeral home when he was involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident.
Reports from the Kentucky State Police revealed that Whitt was driving a fire engine southbound on Route 504 when he lost control, striking a guardrail and going over an embankment. The news of Whitt’s untimely death sent shockwaves through the community, as he, like Adams, was known for his selfless service and dedication to helping others.
