Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a volunteer search group from New Castle stumbled upon a man who had been reported missing, lying deceased along Interstate 80. The man, identified as Devin M. Habib, 37, had ties to New Castle and was tragically found in a grassy median strip between the eastbound and westbound lanes by Marcia Black and her husband, Chris, leaders of the Walkers Volunteer Search Party.

The Search Effort

After receiving information about Habib’s disappearance from his family, the Black couple took it upon themselves to search for him along the interstate. Driving between 5:30 and 6 p.m., they were shocked to come across him in such a location. Despite their efforts, Habib had already succumbed to his injuries.

The Investigation

Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer County, along with Coroner John Libonati, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Habib’s death. It is believed that he was struck by a westbound vehicle and suffered fatal injuries early Saturday morning. The lack of aid from the driver who hit him has left many questioning the humanity of such an act.

The Aftermath

Habib’s untimely passing has left a void in the lives of his four children. With no life insurance to cover funeral expenses, his brother, Joshua, has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the costs. Any additional donations will be allocated to support his children in their time of need.

As the community mourns the loss of a beloved member, the investigation into Habib’s death continues. The closure of a portion of the interstate for several hours following the discovery was necessary for authorities to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Devin M. Habib during this difficult time. May his memory live on, and may justice be served for the senseless loss of life along Interstate 80.
