Accident – Death – Obituary News : An Australian woman tragically lost her life in a devastating landslide in Bali. The victim, identified as 47-year-old Angelina Smith from Melbourne, was asleep in her Villa in the village of Jatiluwih when heavy rain and strong winds triggered the mudslide. Smith’s partner, 50-year-old Luciano Kross from The Netherlands, also lost his life in the incident.

Authorities discovered the couple’s bodies after inspecting the area following the extreme weather event. Smith had posted a video on Instagram the day before the tragedy, mentioning the strong winds in the area. The couple had reportedly decided to stay in the villa despite local advice to seek safer accommodations until the weather conditions improved.

The fatal landslide was caused by erosion of water canals above the villa, designed for irrigation, due to the severe rain. Both victims were found in bed inside the villa, having been evacuated from the debris while in sleeping positions.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to Smith’s family during this difficult time. The incident serves as a reminder of the common hazards in Indonesia during heavy rainfall, including landslides, flooding, and fallen trees.

Jatiluwih, located north of Denpasar, is known for its picturesque rice terraces. Smith, a spiritual healer, spent a lot of time in Indonesia and had recently been in Byron Bay. She ran an online apprenticeship program focusing on meditation and mystic healing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Angelina Smith and Luciano Kross during this tragic time. Stay updated on this developing story by following us on social media..
