Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Three individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident that took place on the Dhimbam ghat road in the picturesque Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve. The incident occurred on a fateful Tuesday morning when a truck carrying sugarcane overturned onto a van, resulting in the untimely demise of the victims.

Details of the Incident

The deceased, identified as SR Kumar (62), N Chennaiyan (45), and S Rangasamy (46), were all real estate agents hailing from Sathyamangalam. The ill-fated journey also involved three other individuals, namely Soundar Raj (60), Selvam (55), and Monohar (50) from Erode, who sustained injuries in the accident.

Reports suggest that the group of land brokers was en route to Nanjangud in Karnataka for a land scouting mission. Tragedy struck when the lorry attempted to negotiate a sharp turn at the 27th hairpin bend on the Dhimbam road, causing it to topple over onto the van carrying the victims.

Rescue Efforts and Investigation

Local authorities, along with Hasanur police, swiftly responded to the scene of the accident and managed to extricate the survivors from the wreckage. The injured individuals were promptly rushed to the Perundurai Government Medical College Hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the Sathyamangalam GH.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are currently on the lookout for the absconding truck driver responsible for the tragic mishap. The temporary closure of the Dhimbam ghat road led to disruptions in traffic flow between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for approximately two hours.

As the community mourns the loss of three valuable lives, this unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with road travel, particularly in challenging terrains such as the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time.
