Man Arrested After Shooting Over Car Repossession at Boone County Public Library Parking Lot
A man has been taken into custody following a violent altercation at the Boone County Public Library in Burlington Pike. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, involved a repossession of a vehicle that escalated into a dangerous situation.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the library parking lot after receiving reports of a shooting. The victim, an employee of B&B Recovery, was at the location to repossess a vehicle belonging to the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Samad Green.
The employee informed detectives that Green emerged from the library as he was preparing to repossess the vehicle. Despite offering Green the opportunity to retrieve personal items from the car, the situation quickly turned violent.
Green allegedly brandished a “steak knife” from the vehicle, damaged the tire strap, and attempted to drive away. The employee, fearing for his safety, contacted 911 and warned Green not to approach him, revealing that he was armed.
Escalation of Violence
As tensions rose, Green reportedly stabbed the employee in the hand and seized his gun. In the ensuing struggle, Green discharged multiple rounds, striking the employee in the calf. Responding officers witnessed Green armed with the handgun but were able to apprehend him without further incident.
The injured employee was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged. During questioning, Green expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that he had acted inappropriately.
Legal Consequences
Samad Green now faces a series of charges, including assault, robbery, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief, and wanton endangerment. He is currently being held at the Boone County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
