In a heartbreaking turn of events, a night out with family turned into a nightmare for Ruthie McNeese, a 34-year-old woman who was tragically killed by a stray bullet outside Vegas Hookah Bar and Grill in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred on Sunday morning and has left her loved ones devastated.
Family Outing Takes a Tragic Turn
According to McNeese’s family, she was enjoying a night out with her cousin, Reginald Fontenot, and niece, Elantra Downey, when a fight erupted inside the venue. As the situation escalated, security kicked out the group of men involved, but the conflict spilled over into the parking lot, resulting in gunfire.
While Fontenot went to retrieve the car, Downey and McNeese were waiting nearby. Downey recounted the harrowing moments when she tried to shield McNeese from the bullets, only to tragically witness her cousin’s final moments.
A Heartbreaking Loss for the Family
Fontenot, who was by McNeese’s side as she took her last breath, expressed the pain of losing a loved one in such a senseless act of violence. McNeese leaves behind a 15-year-old son, Brandon McNeese Johnson, who is now grappling with the loss of his mother.
Remembering McNeese for her vibrant personality and caring nature, her family is determined to ensure that her son is taken care of in the wake of this tragedy.
Community Support and Fundraising Efforts
In an effort to support McNeese’s son, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up by the family. Additionally, a balloon release event will be held in McNeese’s honor at Sunflower Park on Thursday at 6 p.m.
