St. Louis Man Faces Multiple Charges for Stealing Ex-Girlfriend’s Belongings

A St. Louis man, Ralph E. Flakes, 64, is facing a slew of charges after allegedly stealing his ex-girlfriend’s cellphone, car, and dog in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The incident occurred in the 3600 block of North 19th Street last month, leaving the victim shaken and distraught.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Following the theft, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the matter. It was discovered that Flakes had not only taken the victim’s phone and car but also slashed the tires of her Honda CR-V. Fortunately, a license plate reader alerted the police to the stolen vehicle’s location at 14th and Spruce streets.

Police swiftly conducted a traffic stop and apprehended Flakes. During questioning, Flakes admitted to taking the victim’s car and phone, as well as slashing her tires. Additionally, a search of the stolen Camry uncovered a loaded .22 caliber revolver hidden under the driver’s seat. Furthermore, police found Flakes in possession of over 20 milligrams of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine base.

Legal Charges

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office wasted no time in charging Flakes with a range of offenses. These include stealing a motor vehicle, second-degree property damage, stealing an animal, theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, second-degree drug trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful use of a weapon.

As a result of these charges, Flakes will be held in custody without bond, awaiting his day in court to answer for his actions.
