Accident – Death – Obituary News : Mandya: Tragedy struck in Avverahalli village of Mandya taluk as a youth lost his life after the car he was travelling in plunged into the Visvesvaraya Canal. The victim, identified as Nandeesh, was just 18 years old. His friend, Yogananda, who was also in the car, sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The incident occurred when Nandeesh and Yogananda, both residents of Doddabyadarahalli, were on their way from Kalenahalli to their village. The car fell into the 25-feet deep canal, with villagers pointing out the lack of a protection wall as a contributing factor to the tragedy.

Mandya SP N Yathish confirmed that Nandeesh succumbed to his injuries on the spot while Yogananda was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Villagers shared their concerns about the water level in the canal, stating that water had not been released for several days due to a drastic decrease in the dam’s water level.

A case has been registered at the Mandya rural police station in connection with the incident.

In a separate incident, a deer was found dead in the Hunsur wildlife range, having been attacked and bitten by stray dogs. Foresters conducted a post-mortem on the carcass to determine the cause of death, with doctors confirming that the deer had succumbed to injuries sustained in the dog attack.

ACF Mahadev revealed that the incident took place in Chikkahejjur village near the Veeranahosahalli wildlife range of the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. The carcass of the deer was disposed of following the post-mortem examination.

In other news, the government has announced that water will be released in major canals of the Jammu Province starting March 15 to aid farmers. This decision comes following the recommendation of the Director of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu. The Main Ranbir Canal, New Partap Canal, and Kathua Canal are among those that will receive water, with engineers instructed to complete ongoing works before the canal recharges.

Meanwhile, Behlolpur, a village near Sector 63 in Noida, is grappling with a plethora of civic issues including broken roads, clogged drains, and sewage overflow. The village, home to around 1 lakh people, has seen its infrastructure woes worsen due to the lack of attention from authorities.
