A devastating tragedy unfolded in Lancaster in November 2021 when Germarcus Lamar David, a 32-year-old man, was found guilty of fatally shooting his four children and their grandmother at their family home on Garnet Lane. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office confirmed the heartbreaking details of the case.

A Horrific Crime Unfolds

The victims, identified as Namyiah David, 11; Germarcus David Jr., 7; Kaden David, 2; and Noah David, 1, were all children of Germarcus Lamar David. The fifth victim was Ericka England, a 51-year-old grandmother and a dedicated state corrections officer. She had been babysitting her grandchildren at the time of the tragic incident.

Authorities revealed that the children’s mother, who was Ericka England’s daughter, discovered the devastating scene. Germarcus David, a former licensed security guard, turned himself in to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station shortly after the shooting and was taken into custody for questioning.

An Unimaginable Loss

The community was left reeling as details emerged about the events leading up to the senseless act of violence. Despite having a permit to carry a gun, Germarcus David’s permit had expired, and it was listed as canceled. There were no prior reports of domestic violence at the family’s residence.

Family members shared that Germarcus David had posted spiritual and moral views online in the weeks leading up to the tragedy. The motive behind the horrific crime remains unclear, leaving many to grapple with the incomprehensible loss.

Justice Served

After a lengthy trial, Germarcus Lamar David was found guilty on five counts of first-degree murder and three counts of assault on a child causing death. Multiple special circumstance allegations were also proven true, including the use of a firearm and other aggravating factors.

District Attorney George Gascón praised the efforts of the trial lawyers and jurors who worked tirelessly to seek justice for the victims. The sentencing for Germarcus David is scheduled for April 24 at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.
