In a devastating turn of events, a Pierceton, Indiana man lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 in Kosciusko County on Wednesday morning. The incident took place shortly after 5:30 a.m. near the intersection with CR 450 E east of Warsaw, leaving a community in mourning.
Details of the Crash
According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, the crash unfolded when a vehicle came to a stop partially in the left lane and partially in the median due to a flat tire. As two SUVs slowed down in response to the disabled vehicle, a pickup truck collided with the back of one of them, causing a chain reaction that resulted in a tragic loss of life.
Victim Identified
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Jay King, a 58-year-old resident of Pierceton. Following the collision, King was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, leaving behind a grieving family and community.
