Dayveon Lathrop : Family Member Charged in Death of 8-Year-Old Child: Sheriff’s Statement

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 20-year-old man from Fulton Township, Wisconsin, has been accused of homicide after the tragic death of an 8-year-old family member. The Rock County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the distressing situation and swiftly responded to the scene on W. Miles Road in Fulton.

Sheriff Curtis Fell shared that deputies arrived at the residence following a report of a missing child. Despite their exhaustive search efforts inside the home, the child was nowhere to be found. Subsequently, a search involving deputies, officers, a K-9 team, and a drone team was initiated to comb through the surrounding area.

During the search, law enforcement officers apprehended a 20-year-old family member of the missing child. While the circumstances leading to the detainment were not disclosed, a search warrant was obtained for the residence. It was during this more thorough search that the child’s lifeless body was discovered, leading to the devastating revelation that the cause of death was homicide.

The suspect, identified as Dayveon Lathrop, was subsequently arrested on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and concealing a corpse. Additionally, he faces charges of child neglect resulting in death, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping. Sheriff Fell mentioned that the suspect is currently undergoing an evaluation as the investigation progresses.
