Details of the Road Rage Incident in Trumbull

A Norwalk police officer found himself in hot water after allegedly engaging in a road rage incident in Trumbull over the weekend. The incident took place on Route 15 North between Exits 44 and 49, where the officer, identified as David Vetare, was accused of throwing objects at a car and attempting to run the driver off the road.

Response from Connecticut State Police

Connecticut State Police troopers from Troop G swiftly responded to the area of Route 25 South near Exit 6 in Trumbull after receiving reports of the road rage incident. The complainant detailed how her vehicle was struck by an object during the altercation, prompting state police to intervene.

Arrest and Charges

Following their investigation, troopers were able to locate Vetare and charged him with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle with the intention to harass or intimidate, and second-degree breach of peace. Vetare, aged 54, was issued a misdemeanor summons with a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 20.

Recent Incidents Involving Norwalk Police Officers

This recent incident marks the third arrest of a Norwalk police officer in just a month’s time. Prior to Vetare’s arrest, Officer Hector Delgado was apprehended on charges of third-degree stalking and second-degree harassment, while Sgt. Shannon Sherry faced charges related to a fatal rollover crash. Both Delgado and Sherry have been placed on administrative leave pending internal affairs investigations.
