Pedestrian tragically killed in single-vehicle crash in Hinds County

Victim identified as 69-year-old Cornell Croft

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a tragic single-vehicle crash that resulted in the loss of a pedestrian’s life. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on Highway 18 near Seven Springs Road in Hinds County, an area known for its picturesque landscapes and serene surroundings.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 18-year-old Gracen Lancaster of Utica, MS, was travelling eastbound when it tragically collided with a pedestrian, identified as 69-year-old Cornell Croft from Jackson, MS. Despite the swift actions of emergency responders, Cornell Croft succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The passenger of the vehicle, 20-year-old Andrew Lackey from Raymond, MS, along with the driver, escaped unscathed from the incident. The peaceful surroundings of Hinds County were shattered by this unexpected turn of events, leaving the community mourning the loss of a beloved member.
