Arrest Made in Sarnia Following Unprovoked Attack
Over the weekend, a disturbing incident took place on the streets of Sarnia that left a 66-year-old man injured and shaken. The man was walking on the sidewalk on Talfourd Street near Queen Street when he was suddenly attacked from behind by an unknown assailant, who struck him in the face without warning.
Suspect Identified Through Police Investigation
Following the unprovoked attack, police in Sarnia launched an investigation into the incident. After thorough canvasing of the area and review of security footage, a 16-year-old suspect was identified in connection with the assault. With this crucial information in hand, police were able to take swift action to bring the perpetrator to justice.
Arrest Made After Suspect Attempts to Flee
On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in Sarnia. Upon their arrival, the suspect attempted to flee and hide from law enforcement, leading to a physical altercation with officers. During the scuffle, one officer was struck in the mouth before the suspect was finally apprehended and taken into custody.
Charges Laid Against 16-Year-Old
In light of the investigation, the 16-year-old suspect is now facing multiple charges in connection with the incident. The charges include assault, assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest. Additionally, further investigation revealed that the same youth was allegedly responsible for a break and enter at a home on Cathcart Boulevard back in February. As a result, the suspect is also facing charges of break, enter, and theft, as well as trespass by night.
