According to eyewitness accounts, a dumper collided with a toto, a small goods-carrying vehicle, at Kangsaripur Junction. The collision was sudden and severe, causing the dumper to climb onto the tota where passengers were already seated. As a result, the passengers were tragically crushed under the wheels of the dumper, sustaining grievous injuries.

Victims of the Tragedy

The victims of this heart-wrenching incident have been identified as Vidhyut Bara (29), his wife Preeti Bara (22), and their young son Bihaan Bara (2). They resided in the Dadpur Bakreshwar area of Hugli and their untimely demise has left a gaping hole in their community. Other passengers who lost their lives in the accident include Shrija Bhattacharya (20) from Vastral, Nupur Das (50) and Ramprasad Das (62) from Pandua area. Additionally, the driver of the toto, Soumen Ghosh, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.
