Man Found Dead in Septic Tank in Gaibandha

A tragic incident unfolded in Raghunathpur, Sadar upazila of Gaibandha district, where a 38-year-old man was discovered dead in a septic tank on Monday night. The victim, identified as Shariful Islam Pavel, was the son of Abdus Samad Akondo, the president of Ballamjhar union unit Awami League.

Pavel had left his home on Saturday and failed to return, prompting his family to file a general diary with the police. The search for him came to a grim end when an odour emanating from the septic tank at the residence of Sirajul Islam led to the discovery of Pavel’s lifeless body.

Arrests Made in Connection with the Incident

Following the discovery of Pavel’s body, the police took three individuals into custody, including two women, from the house where the tragic incident took place. The chairman of the Ballamjhar Union, Zulfiker Rahman, revealed that a dispute had arisen between Pavel and the arrested individuals.

Reports suggest that Shila, the daughter of Shahin, and Raihan, the son of Haque Mia, had eloped and married through registration six months prior. In the ensuing settlement, a financial agreement was made between the two families, which ultimately led to the animosity between Pavel and the couple.

The news of Pavel’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing disbelief at the unfortunate turn of events. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pavel’s death, in a bid to bring those responsible to justice.

As the residents of Raghunathpur come to terms with this shocking development, they are calling for swift action to ensure that such tragedies are not repeated in the future. The memory of Shariful Islam Pavel will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him, as they mourn the loss of a beloved member of their community.
