Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a heartwarming scene in Imperial Beach, California, deputies had to intervene to escort a curious sea lion back into the water after it ventured onto the boardwalk. The adorable sea lion was captured on video by FOX 5, waddling a bit too far from its natural habitat.

Deputies Use Small Boards to Guide Sea Lion Back

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department quickly responded to the situation, using small boards to gently guide the four-legged sea animal back into the safety of the ocean. The sea lion seemed a bit disoriented but was ultimately escorted back to where it belongs.

Previous Sea Lion Incidents in the Area

This is not the first time a sea lion has ventured into unexpected territory in the area. In a heartwarming Thanksgiving rescue, a baby sea lion attempted to cross state Route 75 near Leyte Road, connecting Coronado to Imperial Beach. Onlookers stopped to help the baby animal safely cross the road.

In another notable incident, a sea lion made national headlines in January 2022 after ending up four miles from the coast on the eastbound state Route 94. SeaWorld’s rescue team intervened just in time before the sea lion reached Interstate 805.

Reporting Injured or Stranded Sea Animals

If you encounter a sick, injured, entangled, or stranded live animal in San Diego County, it is important to report it promptly. NOAA advises contacting SeaWorld of California for live animals and the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center for deceased marine animals.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and the need to protect our marine animals in their natural habitats.
