Attack Outside Downtown West Nightclub Leads to Fatal Shooting
On a fateful night in St. Louis, a tragic incident unfolded outside a Downtown West nightclub, resulting in a fatal shooting. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, January 20, 2021, in the 700 block of N. 15th Street.
The Events Leading to the Shooting
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the altercation began inside Europe Night Club and spilled out onto the streets. The situation quickly escalated, culminating in a violent confrontation that ultimately claimed the life of 28-year-old Sandro Bajric.
Police investigations revealed that Justin M. Ledoux, 27, was captured on surveillance video attacking Bajric and pulling him into a van, where he was held down by others and repeatedly assaulted. The situation took a deadly turn when Ledoux allegedly shot at Bajric as he attempted to flee in his vehicle.
The Involvement of Other Suspects
It was not just Ledoux who was involved in the attack. Frederick D. Pounds, 25, John A. Brooks, 30, and Hailey G. Knecht, 20, were also implicated in the assault on Bajric. Surveillance footage showed Brooks and Pounds restraining Bajric while Knecht struck him. Despite Bajric’s attempts to escape, he was caught and subjected to further violence by the group.
After the brutal beating, the trio left Bajric and walked away, leaving Ledoux behind. He proceeded to shoot at Bajric as he drove off from the scene.
Legal Consequences and Charges
Justin M. Ledoux faces charges of first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, third-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping, and two counts of armed criminal action. His case is currently pending in court.
Frederick D. Pounds has been taken into custody, while warrants have been issued for the arrest of John A. Brooks and Hailey G. Knecht. Both Brooks and Knecht are currently at large. They have been charged with second-degree kidnapping and third-degree assault in connection with the incident.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Sandro Bajric and awaits justice for the senseless act of violence that unfolded outside the nightclub that night.
