The Incident at Cliff Cottage Chalet Park in Eastchurch

Financial records presented in court revealed that the accused had made purchases from Sports Direct and Empire Retail, shedding light on her spending habits. However, the focus of the trial shifted to a more sinister turn of events that took place at Cliff Cottage Chalet Park in Eastchurch.

Following the incident, the accused, Donohoe, eventually made her way back home after covering the expenses for her companion to stay two additional nights. The court proceedings unveiled a chilling revelation that her companion, Lawlor, had departed a day earlier with an unidentified individual in a van to London. From there, he traveled north to Newcastle, where he was eventually apprehended on June 15.

During the investigation, a text message was discovered on Lawlor’s phone, sent to another woman on the night of the shooting, stating, “Just done job.” Despite the absence of the firearm used in the crime, DNA evidence on the bullet casings found at the scene was linked to Lawlor.

Both individuals remained tight-lipped when questioned by law enforcement following their arrests. However, Donohoe later disclosed to her legal team that she was unaware of her partner’s violent actions. Surprisingly, she was the one who picked him up from prison upon his release in 2022, and he later informed his probation officer that he had relocated to her residence.

Just a month before the fatal shooting of Mr. Petrou, Donohoe sought medical attention for a gunshot wound to her buttocks, claiming it was an accidental injury sustained at a party. Lawlor was apprehended in connection with the incident, but Donohoe refused to cooperate with the authorities, resulting in the suspension of the investigation.

These events led to Lawlor being wanted for breach of his parole, as explained by Ms. Lumsdon during the trial. Donohoe later informed social workers that she had been shot by an intruder while in bed with her boyfriend.

Further scrutiny of Donohoe’s post-arrest online activities revealed searches for passports and flights, prompting speculation about evading authorities. The prosecution argued that she had planned to evade detection by social services.

Denying the charge of perverting the course of justice between June 9 and June 12 last year, Donohoe’s trial continues as more details about the harrowing incident come to light.
