The final body from the tragic Bailey Road fire incident has been officially identified as Md Nazmul Islam, a 26-year-old BBA student from Brac University. The confirmation of his identity was made through DNA profiling, bringing closure to his grieving family on Tuesday.
CID Inspector Masud Parvez oversaw the handing over of the body from the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to Nazrul Islam, the father of the deceased. Anwar Hossain, the deceased’s uncle, expressed relief at finally receiving Nazmul’s body after 12 long days of waiting. Nazmul lived with his family in Rampura’s Banashree area.
On the fateful day of the incident, Nazmul had gone out to have a meal at a restaurant located in Bailey Road’s Green Cozy Cottage building with his friends. His sudden and tragic demise has left his family and friends devastated.
Expressing his grief, Nazmul’s father stated, “After so many days, I have finally been able to lay my son to rest. I implore all hotel owners and businessmen to prioritize safety measures to prevent such heartbreaking incidents from occurring in the future.”
He further added, “May the loss of a loved one never again leave a mother with empty arms. Let us all work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
