Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Tragic Incident at Satyamangalam Tiger Reserve

On Tuesday, a man named Mathiya (74) tragically lost his life at the Satyamangalam Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu. Mathiya, a watchman of a private farm land, was trampled to death by a wild elephant in a heartbreaking turn of events.

Man vs. Wild

According to local sources, the incident occurred when a wild elephant ventured onto the farm land where Mathiya was stationed. In an attempt to scare off the elephant, Mathiya resorted to bursting crackers. However, his efforts proved futile as the elephant charged at him and ultimately caused his untimely demise.

Desperate Attempts

Witnesses report that the elephant remained at the scene following the attack, preventing any immediate assistance from reaching Mathiya. It wasn’t until forest officials arrived and the elephant retreated that Mathiya’s body could be recovered.

Rising Man-Animal Conflicts

This tragic incident sheds light on the increasing number of man-animal conflicts occurring in the western ghat forest ranges of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. As human populations continue to encroach upon wildlife habitats, such encounters serve as a stark reminder of the importance of coexistence and conservation efforts.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mathiya’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
