Woman Allegedly Strangled to Death in Nepean Sea Road Apartment

A horrifying incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in an upscale apartment on Nepean Sea Road, where a 63-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death. The victim, identified as Jyoti Shah, resided with her husband Mukesh on the 20th floor of Tahnee Heights in Malabar Hill. Mukesh, a jeweller with a showroom in south Mumbai, was away at work when the tragic incident occurred.

Discovery of the Crime

At around 3 pm, Mukesh tried contacting his wife for some urgent work but received no response. Sensing something amiss, he rushed back home and discovered Jyoti lying lifeless in their bedroom. Frantic, he immediately rushed her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police Investigation

The Malabar Hill police were informed of the incident and promptly launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that Jyoti was strangled to death. The police suspect foul play and have registered a case of murder.

Suspect Identified

Authorities believe that the newly recruited house-help, who had joined the Shah family on the day of the incident, is the prime suspect. The individual, hailing from Darbhanga in Bihar, has been missing since the time of the crime. CCTV footage captures him leaving the building premises, raising suspicions of his involvement in the heinous act.

Investigators are also looking into the possibility of theft, as it is suspected that the house-help may have stolen valuables from the apartment. The exact items taken are yet to be determined, as Shah’s body is undergoing a post-mortem examination.

In this tragic turn of events, the Shah family is left grappling with the loss of Jyoti and the shocking circumstances surrounding her death. The police are working diligently to track down the suspect and bring justice to the grieving family.
