The Akron Police Department Seeks Public Assistance in Identifying Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run

In a tragic incident that shook the Akron community, 47-year-old Jimmy Fletcher lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run accident on February 9 near the intersection of S. Arlington and Ray Streets. The Akron Police Department is now reaching out to the public for help in locating the suspect responsible for this senseless act of violence.

Upon responding to the scene at approximately 4:07 p.m., officers found Fletcher unconscious and suffering from severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Fletcher succumbed to his injuries at Summa Health Akron City Hospital. According to investigations, Fletcher was cycling north on S. Arlington Street when a white sedan, believed to be turning onto Ray Street, struck him and fled the scene.

Suspect Identified

Through extensive investigative work, 23-year-old David Farren, a resident of Akron, has been identified as the driver of the white 2013 Chevy Cruze involved in the hit-and-run incident. The vehicle was located in Ashtabula, Ohio, and brought back to Akron for further processing. An arrest warrant for Farren was issued on March 8, charging him with aggravated vehicular homicide and other related offenses.
