Orange man and Houston woman tragically killed in head-on collision on Interstate Highway 10

Tragedy struck on Monday as a fatal accident unfolded on Interstate Highway 10 in Orange County, claiming the lives of an Orange man and a Houston woman.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the incident, which occurred on Interstate Highway 10 east, near the 861-mile marker in Orange County.

Preliminary Investigation

According to initial reports, the collision took place around 11:15 a.m. involving three vehicles. A 2016 Ram 2500 and a 2023 Nissan Murano were travelling eastbound in the inside lane when a 2021 Ram 1500, travelling in the wrong direction, struck the 2016 Ram head-on. The impact caused both vehicles to veer left and subsequently collide with the Nissan Murano.

Victims Identified

The driver of the 2016 Ram pickup, 62-year-old Javier Munoz from Houston, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth in Beaumont for treatment. Tragically, his passenger, 53-year-old Dolores Munoz, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

The driver of the 2021 Ram 1500, identified as 60-year-old James Wyatt from Orange, was also pronounced dead at the scene by Price.

Authorities are currently working on identifying the occupants of the Nissan involved in the accident.
