Tragic Accident Claims Life of Mars Hill Man on Interstate 26

A heartbreaking incident occurred on the evening of March 11, when a driver lost control of a vehicle on Interstate 26, resulting in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Mars Hill man. The tragic event took place near the 11.5-mile marker, where a Ford Focus was speeding eastbound on the highway.

Details of the Accident

Sgt. PJ Morgan of N.C. Highway Patrol reported that the driver of the Ford Focus was weaving in and out of lanes before losing control and crashing into an embankment. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to a rest on the right side of the road. Tragically, the right front passenger, identified as Jaren Alan Wilson, 28, was ejected from the car during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Bradly Hunter Johnson of Weaverville, and the rear seat passenger were both taken to Mission Hospital in serious but stable condition following the crash. The incident is currently under investigation, with charges pending once the investigation is complete later this week.
