Details of Deadly Crash on Wisconsin Highway Revealed

Last week, a tragic incident unfolded on a Wisconsin highway, resulting in the loss of nine lives. Investigators have now disclosed the specifics of the crash that took place near the Township of Dewhurst.

Victims Identified

The victims of this devastating crash have been identified by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Eight of the individuals who lost their lives were passengers in a van, while the ninth victim was the driver of a semi-tractor truck involved in the collision.

Van Victims

The van passengers who tragically lost their lives have been named as James K. McCoy, Linda Byler, Lydia Byler, Orla Schrock, Ellen Schrock, Delila Schrock, and Suzanna Hertzler. Additionally, an unidentified 6-month-old child also perished in the crash. A 2-year-old child who was in the van at the time of the incident sustained injuries and was treated at Marshfield Medical Center before being released to family members.

Collision Details

Investigators believe that the semi-tractor truck, carrying milk, was travelling eastbound on Highway 95 when the van, transporting the victims, was heading northbound on County Road J. The collision occurred at around 8 a.m. on Friday when the van entered the intersection and was struck on its driver’s side by the semi.

Tragic Outcome

Following the impact, the van tipped onto its side, skidded along the highway, and caught on fire with two occupants still inside. The van’s passengers were ejected from the vehicle, with the fatal victims being declared dead at the scene by investigators.

Driver Fatality

The driver of the semi-tractor truck, Daniel G. Liddicoat, was also killed in the crash. Liddicoat was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
