James K. McCoy : “Fatal Wisconsin Crash Victims ID’d, New Details Revealed”

Last week, a devastating crash on a Wisconsin highway resulted in the loss of nine lives, leaving a community in mourning. The incident took place on Highway 95 near the Township of Dewhurst, where a van carrying eight passengers collided with a semi-tractor truck, resulting in a tragic outcome.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office released the identities of the victims involved in the crash. The van’s driver, James K. McCoy, 46, along with passengers Linda Byler, 44, Lydia Byler, 24, Orla Schrock, 24, Ellen Schrock, 23, Delila Schrock, 21, Suzanna Hertzler, 18, and an unidentified 6-month-old child, all tragically lost their lives in the collision. Additionally, the semi-tractor truck driver, Daniel G. Liddicoat, 51, was also among the fatal victims.

According to investigators, the van, carrying passengers from Virginia, was travelling northbound on County Road J when it entered the intersection with Highway 95. At the same time, the semi-tractor truck, transporting milk, was heading eastbound on the highway. The van was struck on its driver’s side by the oncoming truck, leading to a catastrophic impact.

Liddicoat was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, while the van tipped onto its side, skidded along the highway, and caught fire with two occupants still inside. Seven passengers, including a 2-year-old child who survived with injuries, were ejected from the van during the collision.

The 2-year-old child who was injured in the crash was taken to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment and has since been released to family members. The child’s recovery brings a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy that unfolded on that fateful day.
