UDHAMPUR, Mar 12: Three young men from Doda district met a tragic end when their motorcycle was struck by a truck near Garnai on the National Highway, late last night.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the motorcycle, bearing registration number DL9SBF-1630, was traveling from Udhampur to Jammu when it collided with a truck (JK02B-5504) at Garnai near Traffic Naka Point on the National Highway.
The accident occurred around 0030 hrs last night, resulting in the immediate death of two victims at the scene. The third victim, in critical condition, passed away while being transported to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
Victims’ Identity
The deceased have been identified as Vimal Kumar, son of Ram Nath from Mulla, Tehsil Thatri, District Doda; Shahzad Hussain, son of Abdul Aziz from Chanias, District Doda; and Mubashir Hussain, son of Ghulam Mohd from Gundna, Doda. The trio was employed by a private firm tasked with installing digital meters in Udhampur.
Police Response
Upon receiving news of the accident, SHO Rehambal, Nishad Ahamed, and his team rushed to the scene, transferring the victims to District Hospital Udhampur. Doctors confirmed the deaths of two individuals upon arrival, with the third victim succumbing to injuries on the way to Jammu.
Following legal procedures and postmortem examinations, the police released the bodies to the families of the deceased. A case has been registered, and the truck driver involved in the accident has been apprehended.
