Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Brutal Attack Near Neuschwanstein Castle

An American man has been handed a life sentence for the rape and murder of a tourist, as well as the attempted murder of her friend, near Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. The attack took place near one of Germany’s most popular tourist attractions, the historic Marienbrücke bridge, overlooking the stunning Neuschwanstein Castle.
Details of the Gruesome Attack
The perpetrator, identified as Troy B. from Michigan, lured two American tourists, Eva Liu and Kelsey Chang, away from the public path with the promise of a better vantage point. Liu, 21, was first assaulted by Troy B., who then pushed Chang, 22, down a slope when she tried to intervene. He proceeded to throttle Liu and rape her before throwing her down a ravine when other tourists discovered the scene.
Rescue and Tragic Outcome
The Füssen mountain rescue service airlifted Liu and Chang from the ravine. Unfortunately, Liu succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Police arrested Troy B. near the site of the attack, leading to his eventual sentencing to life in prison by a German court in Kempten.
Legal Proceedings and Future Actions
Judge Christoph Schwiebacher deemed the offense as one of “particular gravity,” ruling that Troy B. will not be eligible for automatic parole after 15 years, as is customary in Germany. His lawyer, Alexander Stevens, mentioned that Troy B. may serve his sentence in Straubing, Germany, unless an extradition request is made by the USA or the client himself.
