Tragic Accident at Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara

On Sunday night, tragedy struck at Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara, near the Guyana Shore Base Inc., as a fatal accident claimed the life of a young motorcyclist. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Domall Trim from Lot 16 Bel Air Village, Georgetown, lost his life in a collision between his motorcycle and a motor lorry owned by Guyana Shore Base Inc.

Details of the Accident

The Guyana Police Force is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, which occurred around 21:35 hrs. Preliminary findings indicate that the motor lorry, driven by 24-year-old Nickell Higgins from Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, was travelling east on Rome Access Road towards Mc Doom public road.

As the lorry approached the junction at Mc Doom public road, traffic was stopped by a traffic rank to allow the lorry to proceed east. However, at the same time, a group of motorcyclists was travelling south on the eastern drive lane of the road, overtaking the line of traffic.

The Collision

Tragically, Trim’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the lorry, causing him to fall onto the road surface and skid into the rear right-side wheel of the vehicle. The impact resulted in severe injuries to Trim, who was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment.

Outcome of the Accident

Despite the efforts of medical staff, Trim succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital. His body now awaits a post-mortem examination at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary.

The community of Mc Doom and the wider East Bank Demerara region have been left in shock by this tragic incident, as family and friends mourn the loss of a young life taken too soon.

As investigations continue, authorities are urging all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies on our roads.
