On a fateful Monday morning in Madurantakam, a heartbreaking incident took place that shook the entire community. Four college students, identified as Dhanush, Kamesh, Monish, and Ravichandran, met with a tragic end while travelling on the footboard of a private bus. These young souls, aged between 18 and 19, were students of Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science in Madurantakam.
Details of the Incident
The bus, already crowded with passengers, had ten students clinging to its footboard as it made its way through the streets. As the bus approached Thirunagalur junction, a truck attempted to overtake it from the left side. In a horrifying turn of events, the truck brushed against the bus, causing the students to get caught in between the two vehicles.
Tragically, three of the students lost their lives on the spot due to the impact of the collision. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ravichandran could not survive his injuries, succumbing to them shortly after arrival. The entire community is left in shock and mourning at the loss of these bright young minds.
Injuries and Hospitalization
Along with the devastating loss of lives, four other individuals sustained injuries in the accident. They were promptly taken to Chengalpet Government Hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries and their current condition remain unknown at this time.
Search for the Culprit
In a cowardly act, the driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle on the roadside and fled the scene of the accident. Law enforcement authorities from the Melmaruvathur police department have launched a manhunt to track down and apprehend the driver responsible for this tragic incident.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and the consequences of reckless driving. As the community mourns the loss of these young lives, it also stands united in seeking justice for the victims of this senseless tragedy.
