Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Barang: A tragic incident unfolded in the quiet village of Godisahi under Barang police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district, where a 48-year-old widow, Urmila Biswal, was brutally murdered for reasons unknown.

The shocking discovery of Urmila’s lifeless body on the premises of her residence sent shockwaves through the close-knit community in the village. The widow was found murdered with a fatal weapon outside her house late Sunday night, leaving residents in a state of disbelief.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the Barang police team swiftly responded and launched a thorough investigation into the heinous crime that had taken place in their jurisdiction.

Speaking on the matter, Swastik Panda, ACP in charge of Cuttack Zone 4, revealed, “We have called in a dog squad and scientific team to aid in our investigation. The case has been assigned to an Inspector rank officer of the Investigative Units on Crime Against Women (IUCAW), with oversight from an officer in the rank of Additional DCP.”

Initial investigations have pointed towards a fatal weapon being used in the attack on Urmila. While one suspect has emerged in connection to the crime, authorities are leaving no stone unturned in exploring all possible angles to solve the murder case. The exact cause of death will be determined following the investigative report by the scientific team.

However, the deceased woman’s son has raised concerns over a potential property dispute leading to his mother’s untimely demise. Recounting the events of the fateful night, Parthasarathy Biswal shared, “I was at work when the incident occurred. The last time I spoke to my mother was at 9.49 pm when she called to ask if I had eaten. The heartbreaking news came from my cousins the next morning, informing me that my mother had been brutally attacked and killed with a stone. It is believed that the perpetrators may have known she was alone at home and took advantage of the situation.”
