A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Sunday evening at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) in Hisar, Haryana. A 35-year-old professor, Sandeep Goyal, and his eight-year-old daughter, Sanaya, were discovered lifeless with surgical blade cuts on their throats at the professor’s office.

Discovery of the Tragedy

According to reports, Goyal, who was battling clinical depression, left his house on his scooter with his daughter, Sanaya, at 4 pm on Sunday. Concerned when they did not return, Goyal’s wife went to the university to search for them. Upon finding Goyal’s scooter parked outside the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology office, she raised an alarm.

With the help of a security guard, they broke open the locked office door and made the devastating discovery of the professor and his daughter in a pool of blood.

Police Response and Investigation

A team from the HAU police post rushed to the scene upon receiving the distressing news. Hisar Superintendent of Police Mohit Handa, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Mohan, Registrar Devendra Kumar, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijaypal also arrived at the crime scene to investigate.

ASP Rajesh Mohan revealed that Goyal had been undergoing psychotherapy for his depression and had exhibited suicidal tendencies. The professor’s colleagues confirmed his mental health struggles and treatment.

Background and Personal Details

Sandeep Goyal, a resident of Haryana’s Narwana, lived with his family in the government quarters at LUVAS. He had joined the university as an Assistant Professor in 2016, following in his father’s footsteps, who works as an accountant in Narwana.

Authorities have called in the mobile forensic unit for scientific evidence and are conducting thorough inquiries into the tragic incident. The community and Goyal’s family are left in shock and disbelief over the untimely deaths.
