Details of the Incident

The incident unfolded on a quiet Saturday afternoon in the serene neighbourhood of Apple Valley, located in the heart of the picturesque California desert. Just before 5 p.m., deputies were called to a home in the 13400 block of Iroquois Road. Family members had reported a 15-year-old who was attacking family members and damaging property at the residence.

Upon arrival, the first deputy encountered the 15-year-old, later identified as Ryan Gainer, who attempted to attack him with a 5-foot-long gardening tool featuring a sharp blade at the end.
