Tragic Fatal Crash in Federalsburg Leaves Two Dead

Today, a tragic incident occurred in Federalsburg, Maryland, where Maryland State Police (MSP) are currently investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that resulted in the loss of two lives. The accident took place on MD 313 (Federalsburg Highway) north of Laurel Grove Road in the early hours of the morning.

Details of the Accident

According to Easton Barrack Troopers, the crash involved a Mazda, a Jeep, and a GMC truck. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Mazda was attempting to make a left turn onto Laurel Grove Road while travelling southbound on MD 313. It was during this turn that the Mazda was struck from behind by the Jeep, for reasons that are currently unknown.

The impact of the collision caused the Mazda to then collide with the GMC truck, resulting in a devastating outcome. Both occupants of the Mazda, identified as Lavonne Bratcher (55) and Vincent Bratcher (56) from Hurlock, tragically lost their lives at the scene as declared by Caroline County Emergency Services personnel.

Injuries and Transport

The driver of the Jeep, Christopher McMullen (31) from Federalsburg, along with a passenger and the operator of the GMC truck, were all transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for treatment. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown.

Investigation and Road Closure

Following the accident, MD 313 had to be closed for over three hours to allow for investigation by the MSP Crash Team. The team continues to work diligently to determine the cause of the crash and gather all necessary evidence.
