A tragic incident occurred in the town of Tirunelveli, where a 23-year-old murder-case accused lost his life after being shot by the district police. The victim, identified as K Petchidurai, hailed from Thenthirupuvanam and was involved in a violent crime that resulted in his demise.

Reports indicate that Petchidurai, along with his accomplice R Chandru, were in an inebriated state when they brutally attacked a road worker named C Karuppasamy with a sickle near Vellankuli. The assailants also injured another worker, A Venkatesh, and caused damage to a car and a government bus before fleeing the scene. In their attempt to escape, they even attacked a police constable named Senthil, prompting the police to take action.
