Tragic Shooting Incident in Valparaiso Leaves Woman Dead

A Valparaiso woman tragically lost her life in a shooting incident that took place on a Friday afternoon. Jessica Kouba, 29, was transported to the emergency room after sustaining injuries in the incident. Sadly, she passed away at 5:23 p.m. on March 8 at Northwest Health-Porter.

The shooting, which occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the 350 block of Locust Street, is currently under investigation by the Valparaiso Police Department. Multiple gunshots were reported at the scene, leading to Kouba’s untimely death due to blood loss, which has been ruled a homicide.

Police Identify Suspect and Make Arrest

During the investigation, a Merrillville man, Anthony Lee, 25, was taken into custody at the scene. Lee was subsequently transported to the Valparaiso Police Department for questioning. It was later revealed that Lee was incarcerated at the Porter County Jail on unrelated charges of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

The investigation into the shooting incident is still ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
