The Tragic Wisconsin Highway Crash
Last week, a devastating crash occurred on a Wisconsin highway, resulting in the loss of nine lives. The incident took place in Dewhurst, Wisconsin, leaving a community in mourning.
The Victims
The victims of the crash have been identified as passengers in a van that collided with a semi-tractor truck. Among the deceased were James K. McCoy, Linda Byler, Lydia Byler, Orla Schrock, Ellen Schrock, Delila Schrock, Suzanna Hertzler, and an unidentified 6-month-old child. The driver of the semi-truck, Daniel G. Liddicoat, also tragically lost his life in the accident.
The Tragic Details
The sheriff’s office revealed that the semi-tractor truck, carrying milk, was traveling eastbound on Highway 95 near the Township of Dewhurst when the van, with all its passengers from Virginia, was northbound on intersecting County Road J. The van entered the intersection and was struck by the semi on its driver’s side, leading to the fatal crash.
The Aftermath
Liddicoat was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The van tipped onto its side, skidded east on the highway, and caught on fire with two occupants inside. Seven passengers, including a 2-year-old child who survived, were ejected from the van. Despite efforts to save them, all the van’s passengers were declared dead at the scene.
