Woman Wanted for Covering Up Murder of Teenager in Roanoke Rapids Home

In a disturbing turn of events, officers in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. are on the hunt for a woman who allegedly played a role in covering up the first-degree murder of a teenager in her own home. The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has identified the suspect as 34-year-old Alicia Shoulders, who is currently wanted for her involvement in the incident.

The Tragic Incident

The victim, 18-year-old Jamari Dejon Haskins from Chesapeake, Virginia, was fatally shot by 26-year-old Demarcus Tyvon Gilbert at Shoulders’ residence on the 200 block of Madison Street on February 27. Gilbert later confessed to the crime during police questioning and was subsequently charged with first-degree murder.

Cover-Up Unraveled

Authorities revealed that Shoulders, along with two other individuals, attempted to conceal the murder. Despite Gilbert’s confession, the others present at the scene refused to cooperate with law enforcement. The individuals involved were identified as 18-year-old Kenneth Lamari Adkins and 30-year-old Thomas Lee Parham, both from Emporia, Virginia, in addition to Shoulders.

Legal Consequences

Adkins turned himself in to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and is facing obstruction of justice charges. Parham was arrested in Emporia, Virginia and will be extradited back to North Carolina for the same charges. Shoulders, however, has eluded authorities and is currently at large.

Charges Against Shoulders

Investigators have determined that Shoulders actively participated in covering up the homicide. She allegedly misled law enforcement officers to conceal Haskins’ death and assisted in cleaning up the crime scene before their arrival. It is believed that these actions were carried out to destroy crucial evidence.

Appeal for Information

Despite the warrants issued for Shoulders’ arrest, she has relocated from her previous address and has not responded to any attempts by investigators to contact her. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information on Shoulders’ whereabouts to come forward and contact the Halifax County NC Crime Stoppers either online or by phone. Anonymity is guaranteed, and a reward may be available for valuable information.
