Tragedy struck in Degana police station area of Nagaur district on Sunday, as a couple, their two-year-old son, and a pregnant woman lost their lives in a devastating accident involving an out-of-control SUV. The victims, identified as Chhotu Ram (25), his wife Suman (24), their son Hrithik (2), and Rakhudi (24), the wife of Mahendra, were waiting on the roadside for a bus when the incident occurred around 9.15am.
According to SHO Badri Prasad Meena of Degana police station, the deceased couple hailed from Chudiyas village and worked as laborers, while the pregnant woman was from Rein village. They were all standing on Bachhwas Road at Jat ki Dhani, 7km from Chudiyas village, waiting for the bus to go to Chui village when the speeding SUV lost control and overturned near them, resulting in the tragic accident.
The SUV, identified as a Scorpio, was reportedly traveling at a high speed, causing it to hit the victims without giving them a chance to escape. The vehicle then veered off the road and overturned multiple times before the driver abandoned the scene and fled. The authorities from Degana police station quickly responded to the incident and transported the four bodies to the mortuary of Upazila Hospital at Degana.
The entire community is in shock and mourning the loss of these innocent lives. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident and locate the driver of the SUV. As the families of the victims grapple with this heartbreaking tragedy, the authorities are urging all motorists to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
