NEW YORK — The tragic incident that claimed the lives of two National Guard soldiers in a military helicopter crash in Texas has deeply impacted the New York community. The soldiers, 28-year-old Casey Frankoski from Rensselear and 30-year-old John Grassia from Schenectady, were serving on a federal border security mission when the aircraft went down near the Southern border on Friday. The crash also resulted in the loss of a border patrol agent and left a third New York soldier critically injured.
Grassia, who was also a New York State trooper, had dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community, making the loss even more profound.
