In a tragic incident in Paris, Texas, the Texas Rangers are currently investigating a situation where a man was shot and killed by an officer inside an Atwoods store.

The Incident

The man, identified as Antonio Sessions from Greenville, Texas, barricaded himself inside the dressing room at the Atwoods store in Paris just half an hour before closing time.

According to a press release from the Paris Police Department, employees at the store called the police after Sessions ignored their attempts to get him to leave the dressing room when it was time to close.

Confrontation

When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Sessions and managed to convince him to come out of the dressing room. However, things took a turn when Sessions suddenly ran towards the store’s exit.

As officers tried to question him, Sessions allegedly grabbed one of the officer’s tasers and pointed it at them. In response, the officer fired his weapon, hitting Sessions.

Outcome

Antonio Sessions was taken to a local hospital following the incident, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Per department policy, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave while the Texas Rangers conduct their investigation into the matter.
