Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in northeast New Jersey are currently investigating a horrific incident where a dog mauled and killed a 3-month-old baby boy over the weekend, leaving the infant’s mother injured in the process. The tragic attack took place at the family’s home in Woodbridge, located in northern Middlesex County, just east of Staten Island.

According to reports from MyCentralJersey.com, a part of the USA TODAY Network, officers from the Woodbridge Police Department responded to the scene early Saturday morning and discovered the unresponsive baby, believed to have been attacked by the family’s pit bull. Tragically, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

The infant’s mother, a 21-year-old woman, also sustained serious injuries during the attack. The spokesperson for the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Brynn Krause, revealed that the mother suffered cuts to her face, arms, and legs. She was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment and was released later that same day. Additionally, the child’s 27-year-old father was also hospitalized for unspecified injuries.

As a result of the incident, the dog responsible for the fatal attack was euthanized by a veterinarian. The case remains open and active, with no charges pending as of Monday. Authorities have refrained from releasing the names of the baby boy and his parents.

This tragic event comes in the wake of several reported dog attacks across the country since the beginning of the year. In Clifton, South Carolina, on February 14, four dogs attacked an 11-year-old boy as he walked to the bus stop, resulting in severe injuries. Similarly, in Compton, California, a 35-year-old man tragically died after being mauled by his pit bulls on February 15. Another heartbreaking incident occurred in Hartselle, Alabama, on February 26, when an Olde English Bulldog fatally attacked a neighbor’s child riding his bike.
