Tragic Suspected Arson Attack Claims Life of 65-Year-Old Man in Toll Gate, Clarendon

A quiet Sunday morning in Toll Gate, Clarendon turned into a scene of horror as a suspected arson attack claimed the life of a 65-year-old man. Roy Thompson, a carpenter from Old Road, lost his life in a devastating fire that engulfed a four-bedroom house in the early hours of the morning.

The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., shocked the community as flames from a Molotov cocktail quickly spread through the residence. The occupants, including a 64-year-old amputee who managed to escape, were awakened by the sound of crashing glass before the fire took hold.

As the flames raged, Thompson bravely attempted to retrieve some belongings from inside the burning house. Tragically, a section of the building collapsed on him, sealing his fate.

Emergency services were quickly called to the scene, but it was too late to save Thompson. His burnt body was recovered from the rubble, leaving the community in mourning.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a suspected arson attack, and residents are left grappling with shock and grief over the loss of a beloved member of their community.
