Person Falls Into 40-Foot-Deep Borewell in Delhi

A person fell into a 40-foot-deep borewell at a Delhi Jal Board water treatment plant in the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident took place in west Delhi’s Keshopur Mandi area, sparking a swift response from rescue teams. Currently, a rescue operation is underway at the site, with teams led by the National Disaster Response Force and the Delhi Fire Services present to assist.

Rescue Operation in Progress

At around 1am on Sunday, the Delhi Fire Service received a distress call about the incident, prompting the dispatch of five fire tenders to the location. Speaking about the rescue efforts, DFS chief Atul Garg stated that the NDRF team will soon begin digging a parallel borewell to facilitate the safe extraction of the individual who fell into the well.

The rescue operation is being led by inspector-in-charge Veer Pratap Singh, with the identity of the person yet to be confirmed.

Authorities Respond to the Emergency

Deputy commissioner of police (West) Vichitra Veer provided details of the response to the incident, stating that a PCR call was received at Vikaspuri police station alerting authorities to the situation at the Keshopur Jal Board office. Local police and fire brigade teams, along with the NDRF, are working together to ensure the safe rescue of the individual.

In a separate incident last month, a 24-year-old woman tragically fell into an open borewell in Rajasthan’s Gangapur city. Despite immediate efforts by administrative officials, the woman, identified as Mona Bai of Bairwa Dhani, did not survive.
