Abdisalaan H. Mohamud, a 29-year-old individual, has been charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting a Lawful Stop. The shooting took place in the 1400 block of Independence Avenue, where Kansas City Police Department officers responded to a distress call regarding a reported shooting in the area.

The Victim’s Story

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a victim near 9th and Woodland Avenue who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim recounted a harrowing tale of a red van pulling up next to their vehicle, with an individual leaning out of the window brandishing a rifle and opening fire on the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s injuries were severe, and they required immediate medical attention.

Police Chase and Arrest
