New Delhi: Tragedy struck in South Delhi’s Kumar Chowk, Chirag Dilli, on Sunday evening as a father and son were brutally stabbed to death in what seems to be a case of rivalry. The victims have been identified as Jai Bhagwan, aged 55, and his son Saurabh, aged 22, according to police reports.
The gruesome incident occurred at Prajapati colony in the Malviya Nagar area around 8pm. Eyewitnesses revealed that the father-son duo was ambushed by their rivals, leading to a violent confrontation that resulted in the fatal stabbings. The attackers, armed with knives, mercilessly assaulted the victims, leaving them sprawled on the road in a pool of blood.
Upon receiving a distress call, law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the scene. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, they succumbed to their injuries upon arrival. Autopsies are scheduled to be performed on Monday, following which the bodies will be released to the family for final rites.
An FIR has been lodged at the Malviya Nagar police station, prompting the deployment of four specialized teams to track down the assailants. Police officials have obtained CCTV footage from the vicinity, providing crucial leads in their investigation.
“Raids are currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators. Initial assessments suggest that the incident stems from personal animosity,” stated a senior police officer involved in the case.
This harrowing incident marks a disturbing trend of violence in the region, underscoring the need for enhanced vigilance and security measures. The community mourns the loss of Jai Bhagwan and Saurabh, as authorities intensify efforts to bring the culprits to justice.
