A man from Pontiac has been charged with multiple serious offences, including second-degree murder, following a fatal shooting at the Night Riders Motorcycle Club. The accused, Malcom Robert Boykin, 55, has been accused of the death of Charlie Isaac Odneal, 42, also from Pontiac, as revealed by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in a statement released on Saturday.
Aside from the charge of second-degree murder, Boykin is also facing accusations of assault with intent to murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and multiple counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Scene of the Incident
The tragic incident unfolded at the motorcycle club building located on Raeburn Street near Sanford Street in Pontiac on Tuesday at approximately 9:15 p.m., prompting authorities to respond to reports of a possible shooting, as detailed by sheriff’s officials.
Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement officers were informed that the victim, identified as Odneal, had already been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Arrest and Investigation
Following a thorough investigation, which included the involvement of a special agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, detectives concluded that the incident stemmed from an argument that turned deadly, leading to the fatal shooting of Odneal.
Boykin was swiftly apprehended on Wednesday by the fugitive apprehension team at a nearby motel, where he was taken into custody. The victim, Odneal, tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday at the hospital.
Court Proceedings and Future Dates
Boykin appeared before 52-1st District Court Magistrate Michael Bosnic, who ordered him to be held without bail. The accused is set to make his next court appearance on March 19 at the 50th District Court for a probable cause conference.
