In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 57-year-old man identified as Asmadi Harun was found dead in Sungai Kalabakan after being reported missing while searching for clams with his family members. The incident took place in the serene village of Kampung Sungai Ulu Kalabakan, where the victim’s body was discovered by villagers early this morning.
Search Operation Uncovers Tragic Outcome
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station chief Jemishin Ujin revealed that the victim was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while out in the river. His body was found approximately 500 metres from where he was last seen, sending shockwaves through the close-knit community.

As news of the missing man spread, villagers from Kampung Sungai Ulu Kalabakan rallied together to search for Asmadi Harun. With three boats scouring the river, the search operation continued into the early hours of the morning until the tragic discovery was made.
